Man Tests AI on Doorbell Camera Video in Nancy Guthrie Investigation — Result Is Unsettling

The search for Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie, has entered its 13th tense day—and a new development has sent shivers through social media. A YouTuber has used AI to digitally “unmask” the masked figure captured on Guthrie’s doorbell camera, creating a chilling reconstruction that has sparked widespread online speculation.

In a recent video, Professor Nez revealed what he claims is an AI-generated image of the suspect outside Guthrie’s Arizona home. Using advanced AI tools, he attempted to remove the mask seen in the original footage, offering what he says is a rare glimpse at the individual’s face.

“This is where AI really comes in,” Nez explained. “What you see here is the system digitally removing the mask from Dominic Aaron Lee Evans.” According to Nez, Evans is a longtime friend and former bandmate of Tomasso Cioni, Nancy Guthrie’s son-in-law’s acquaintance.

Nez highlighted striking similarities between the AI-generated image and the masked figure from the doorbell footage. “Look at the facial hair, the eyes, the eyebrows—it’s extremely eerie,” he said. “Side by side, you can see how uncanny the resemblance is. He added that he used Grok AI to perform the digital unmasking, claiming the result is “really, really accurate” in estimating what the suspect may look like. “Technology today can do so many things across industries,” Nez noted. “It’s helping with research, investigations, and even everyday work—but this instance is especially powerful.”

The side-by-side comparison of the masked footage and the AI reconstruction has gone viral online, drawing intense speculation about the suspect’s identity. However, law enforcement officials have not verified the AI-generated image, and no suspects have been publicly confirmed in Nancy Guthrie’s case. Authorities continue to investigate, and the family has asked for privacy while urging the public to remain vigilant.

While AI offers new investigative possibilities, experts caution that digitally generated images should be treated carefully—they are not a substitute for verified evidence.
