People Spot Possible Clue in Eyes of Nancy Guthrie Suspect

The FBI recently released chilling surveillance images in the investigation into 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, drawing widespread attention online. The photos show a masked, armed individual outside her Tucson, Arizona, home in the early morning hours of her disappearance. The images mark the first major public breakthrough in the case since Nancy, mother of “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie, went missing on February 1.

In the footage shared by FBI Director Kash Patel, the suspect is seen tampering with a video doorbell while wearing a balaclava, gloves, a zipped jacket, and a backpack. The release comes as two ransom deadlines demanding $6 million in bitcoin have passed, though no direct threat was included in the notes. Patel explained investigators recovered the footage from previously inaccessible data and have been working with private-sector partners to retrieve lost or corrupted video.

Social media users have focused on the suspect’s visible eyes, speculating that eyebrow shape and eye appearance might suggest a female, though others argue the gait and body language appear more masculine. Former FBI agent Mark Harrigan noted the suspect’s handling of the firearm and camera suggests inexperience. “This is a very non-conventional way to carry a firearm,” Harrigan said, pointing out the gun was exposed rather than concealed.

Authorities have detained one individual in connection with the case. Carlos, briefly held for questioning, said he works as a delivery driver and may have delivered a package to Nancy’s home but denied any involvement. He was later released, and law enforcement continues to analyze the footage and pursue tips in the ongoing investigation.
